This Polaroid photo is held in a hand, and the picture inside the white frame comes alive: the person in it blinks, smiles and waves at the camera while the frame and hand stay still. Keep the face exactly as in the photo. Soft indoor lighting, playful magical-realism feel, 5 seconds.

What to watch for

The source is already a photo of a Polaroid held in a hand — the model animates the picture inside it rather than building that scene for you. So what matters is the shot inside the print: make it a tight head-and-shoulders, because a face filling a fraction of a fraction of the frame is the worst case for a likeness. Ours started round-faced mid-laugh and ended longer and thinner. The small waving hand arrived malformed in the source still and stayed that way; the big holding hand is clean.

How to use it

Only edit photos you have permission to use, including permission from the people pictured.
