Pet Christmas Portrait
A little red knitted scarf, a glowing tree and fairy-light bokeh — the Christmas card portrait for your cat or dog.
The prompt
Turn this photo of my pet into a festive Christmas portrait. My pet sits on a soft blanket in front of a glowing Christmas tree, wearing a small knitted red scarf, warm fairy-light bokeh behind, soft side light from a window, a pine branch and a few ornaments blurred in the foreground. Warm cosy colour grade, fine film grain, crisp focus on the eyes. Keep my pet's exact fur colours, markings, eye colour and face completely unchanged.
How to use it
Only edit photos you have permission to use, including permission from the people pictured.
- Pick a source that clearly shows the markings, eyes, ears, and body shape you want preserved.
- Attach the source in an AI image editor compatible with this prompt (Gemini · ChatGPT (any AI image editor)), then paste the prompt. Decide which surroundings may change. Add an explicit instruction to keep the room if the selected prompt otherwise replaces it.
- Compare fur patches, eye color, ears, paws, and tail with the source. Fix changed markings before accepting the lighting or seasonal styling.
- Save the accepted image separately from the original and label it as AI-edited when sharing. Use the saved edit as the source if you choose to animate it next.

What happened when we tested it
The scarf and the setting are the easy part — ours came back with a neatly knitted red scarf and a tree full of warm bokeh. The markings are what to check. Our tuxedo cat's narrow white stripe down the nose widened into a broad white muzzle despite the markings clause, the same white-spreading our pet markings guide describes. Compare the face with your source at full size. The pose changes too: the cat was lying down and came back sitting, because the prompt says 'sits'.
